i am going to get them....they weigh a lot less then the aluminum ones and the only point for them is to keep the powder coat on my a-arms from chipping

I thought powder coating is a permanent bond to the metal? Does it really chip or wear away?

All I can say is BUY IT. I have had one for 1 1/2 years. love it, can't destroy it. Lighter than anything else. I have pounded the crap out of it on harescrambles, rocks and trees. Only a couple minor scratches. CHEAP $$$$ The mounting hardware will throw you off when you get it. It looks cheap, But never had one break or stripout.

Hope this helps.

You can order them straight from Maier-mfg.com
I haven't see a site yet that gives a discount on them because their only like 50.00 to start with.

I'd be really surprised if you're able to brake them. 2 friends have used them on their 400s for over a year with no problems.

can the plastic bend when u hit a rock and put a little dent on the frame and then the plastic goes back to normal??

About the ONLY thing I would use a Plstic Skid for is to Burn in a Fire. I wouldn't trust no PLastic Skid under my frame.

A buddy of mine would of Cracked that Maier in 2 if he had it on when he went over this stump. Good thating Those AC's have that LIL Lip on the front cause he hit the stump head on in a race and that Lil Lip just allowed the 400 to slide right over it.

Pro400EXC-

thanks for the info, about the lil lip on the front of the ac full chassis skid, would the skid still fit right if i have a dg front bumper? Im looking into getting an AC full chassis skid for my 300ex. Thanks for help in advance

On the AC site is says the skid will only work with stock and AC bumpers.

The regular AC and DG bumpers are post mounted to the frame and basically open right at the tip of the lower frame, so I wouldnt think the lip on the AC skid would interfere with anything. I dont know that... just doesnt seem like it would. The only one that comes to mind that might have a problem with the front lip is ProArmor's bumper. Im not sure if their skid has a front lip or not, but that bumper is a solid plate all the way to the the lower frame.

you're not going to break the plastic skid plates. They are made to absorb the impacts. They flex instead of breaking. If you hit something hard enough to bend your frame with a full length plastic skid on it, you were going to bend your frame anyway.

The DG and AC skids are 6000 series aluminum. They will scratch, bend, gouge. About 99% of the aftermarket aluminum is 6061T-6 aluminum. It's easy to work with and reasonably strong, that's why they use it. If you want indestructible, go get some 7075T-6 and make your own. You won't scratch it. Good luck bending it unless you use a torch to heat it. Or go to 304 or 316 stainless if you're not worried about weight.

If you're not going to destroy an AC or DG, then you won't destroy the plastic either. And you're saving some money and some weight.
