I saw on the RidingArizona.com site They said to (Grind the restrictor ring out of the header pipe ). Has anyone done this?,how did it work and how did you do it? I have never heard of this and why would honda put it in there in the first palce?
Or is this guy just full of him self. Thanks for any Info.

I don't believe there is an actuual 'ring'. I think some people grind the inner welds down in thier headers for an extra like .1 HP... Not worth the work, IMO.

You will gain about 1/2 hp by gringing out the welds on the inside of the stock 400 pipe. I think that it helped.

i had done it on the other 400ex i had and i did nothing, its not worth the hassel, u might have a 1/2 hp gain, but u cant notice it at all, just geta slip-on or full system from like LRD, Curtis Sparks, Hmf, there all very good.

Go and check the dyno reading when you put and exhaust on a 400. You will only gain about 2-3 hp when the exhaust is put on. If you can get 1/2 hp from taking the welds out and it cost nothing.
I got this info from ATVnews.com from there exhaust shootout for the 400ex.
But, I still think that the more stickers that is what will make you go faster.

I am going with the stickers than. Its much easer than the grinding. LOL Thanks guys for all the feedback. I still might try it. I don't have anything to loose, its only time.
