over the past few hours my dads friend has been over here trying to sell me his '65 chevy nova. its got a 350 small block and 350 turbo tranny. it sounds super sweet, looks super sweet, and is fast as crap. It needs a paint job (which i can do in the spring) door panels, carpet, headliner, and some polishing of the chrome (minor stuff) its pretty reliable, 2000 miles on the engine and tranny, the only thing i should worry about is the original fuel pump. It's a sweet car but I can only get it if I sell my quad, he wants 4500 for the car... Its all 50/50 here. both are awesome but I dont know if I want to give up riding for the car. Give me some feedback here!!

You see what ive been thinking is maybe sell my quad and get the car now, Get it painted and do what I wanna do and then next spring-summer i can work my 50-60 weeks again without breaking my ankle this time and save for another one.

I would keep the quad, But thats me. I don't like having to put alot of time and money into a car that im only gonna drive 6 months out of the year, when I can do the same to my quad and have alot more fun year round.

I would pass it up. IMO, the pre '68 Chevy IIs were pretty ugly. They were real boats too. Unless that 350 is really built, its not going to be INCREDIBLY fast. You can pick up a newer Nova for less. For example, a shop around here recently sold a 71 1/2' 427 Nova, mostly stock, but in MINT shape for 6495$,

The car is fast. It ran a 14.5 (saw the ticket) and with a better carb, intake system and exhaust it could run mis-low 13's. (this is what ive seen with the nova's with the 350's) I think the pre 68's look the best of all the nova's. I would try to get at least 3700 for it considering its a 2003 i paid 4000 for it and only rode it for a few hours. this is what the car looks like, it isnt this car but looks exactly like it. Its in almost exactly the same shape too, the only thing different is this car is gray primer not black.

yea thats a good point too. i can probably sell it now for 3500-3700 and buy one exactly like it maybe with some mods for 3000 in a year after the new honda is out

08-16-2003, 01:10 PM
so chucked your gonna pass the nova up? or sell the quad?

any other thoughts?? ill probably keep it for winter because riding in the snow is awesome, especially if we have a state of emergency again (doubt it) I can ride it around which would end up being one of the coolest things i have ever done.

normally i would say get it. but since is a 65 id pass. teh best years are 66 and 67 for looks and speed. whoever said they are boats is dumb. there light, little and fast as ****. my cousin had a 67 and it fast as hell. and yes they ARE faster then teh 70's style. anyway if you want a nova wait for a 66 or 67.

how did they change the body style from 65-66? if he falls through i think i will have an easy time finding another because theres about a hundred novas on ebay.

the whole body style didnt change(like from 60's to teh 70's ones) but theres differences that make them look a lot better. go on ebay and check them out. youll be able to tell.

my dad drives 12 gears about 80 hrs a week, hes going in tonight at midnight and he'll work till about 4-5 tomorrow. The truck he drives just turned one year old and a week later it hit 100k miles. he was going to get a utility bike until i did this :( i wanted to get a plow and stuff so I could plow the driveway in the winter and make some money hauling crap around at my moms horse farm. not to mention playing in the mud.
