I'm picking up a 2000 400ex this weekend, and i'm wondering what are the best cheapest A-arms, Swingarm, and Axle out there? I don't want something that will be dirt cheap but break on me, but not something that will put me in even farther debt.:D thanks for the help.

(i'll be doing trail riding, mx, xc, and jumping if that matters)

i dont think you will need a swingarm. save that money for a better axle and bearing carrier. On a budget here is a great set up.

Houser a arms $525
Stock Swing arm $ FREE
RPM Axle used on ebay $200 - $400 look and u can find some great deals
Meszaros axle lock nut. $45
LSR twin row carrier used for about $100

And then you should be good to go

Burgard makes some good A-Arms for even cheaper then the Houser's.
Either get a used RPM axle, or you can find some LSR's for cheap too. I would try and stick with RPM though. Then you can get a Locknut and Carrier.

If you plan on getting +2 arms then you are going to need to get new front shocks too.

Ya, you will need shocks....For sure stick with RPM on the axle. They are head and shoulders above Durablue and Lonestar. I Don't even think that is up for debate.

If you want to MX and XC it is hard to set a quad up for both. The XC needs a quad that is close to stock width in the front and the rear. For XC you need to get the +2 a-arms and axle.

The length of your shocks will be just fine. (as long as you don't get LT arms) You will need to get them resprung and revalved for the longer arms, though, unless you like things REAL cushy!

yea i need to get them resprung and revalved anyway because they are set up for a 230lb rider, and i'm 160:ermm:

See what they are like after you put the +2 arms on there, being valved that heavy with stock arms might help them be more in your weight range with the longer arms.

yea that's what i thought, since they are valved to 230, they seem to ride really nice right now.
