i was wondering if there was anyway to change my front suspension to lower the front end of my 400ex? i dont wanna get into alot of money for aftermarket shocks because it would only be for drag racing, but i also dont wanna loose and shock travel and be able to go over so bumps and jumps in the trail? anyone have any ideas?

just strap the front end down....like i've told ya. then undo it all when your trail riding. wheel spacers are cool too. (not them bullsh it ones that just thread on the stock studs)

buy ya a set of 300ex shocks..it'll on take about 5 min. to switch em out if u wanna go trail riding. its sits the front down real low. we put mine on my buddies 400ex and that kept the front end down pretty good and it'll only cost ya about $75

Some companies, like DuraBlue, make lowering kits for the front end. It just moves the upper shock mount so that the shocks are vertical instead of at a lean. It lowers the front end considerably w/out losing all of your travel. Not too expensive either.

this is not recomended for jumping i's imagine.

just take all the oil out of the shock, nitrogen, put on a spring for a 10lb person and it'll be lowered...

i saw a guy on a z400 once that just welded him a new set of shock mounts farther down the a-arm and mounted his shocks onto those and that lowered it down an inch or two

Without buying new shocks, there is no way to lower your quad and still get full performance. A lowering kit like Durablue is probably your best bet, round $100 new or $50 used on ebay. It will lower the front end, but you can still ride it on the trail, and they will still soak up all the bumps.

However, they are not recommended for jumping. You can probably jump a little, but I'd keep it under 3 ft. off the ground.

What he said, they're 300ex's but maybe this will help you get a visual

Mine's on the left, with 400ex a-arms and 300ex shocks with the preload all the way up, my buddy's is on the right with the preload all the way down, 300ex shocks are about 3 inches shorter than 400ex shocks that's about what it will lower your quad.

What he said. I've seen alot of flattrackers do this, also.
