To all you 250R owners what front and rear sprockets sizes to you run on your quad??? I bought mine early this past spring and the time has come to replace mine and I am not sure what to buy. I do alot of woods riding and also MX. Stock is 13/38 and I am leaning towards that set-up but not real sure. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'd like to know what other guys are running too. Darren at ESR suggested I run 14-36 with 20" rears but I haven't tried it yet, I'm still running stock too.

I forgot about tire size. I run 18 on the tracks and 20 in the woods. I think ya need some sort of math degree to figure this stuff out!!!

Well it kinda depend on the conditions. I ride mostly in the sand and if the sand is wet and good traction I like to run a 12 in the front. If it is dry and less traction I like to run a 13. I left the rear stock. The 12 gives you a little better pull with better traction but will spin and rev more with less traction. The 13 will want to bog more with more traction but when traction is limited it will help get the tires spinning and get you moveing faster.

14/36 sounds really high for a 265cc. I run that same gearing with a 340PV, and I'm thinking about going a little lower, like 14/37.

Your gearing depends largely on your engine. I wouldn't recommend a 14t front sprocket unless you have a highly modified engine, or race XC.

You also want to look at the RPM range of your engine. I can say without a doubt that a 265 will rev higher than my 340, so you don't need your gearing to get you there.

My recomendation is, find some cheap gears in several sizes, and experiment. I ordered some steel Rocket sprockets from C&D, and they were cheaper than Renthal aluminum sprockets, and should last much longer because they are steel.

I am running a 14/38 combo for MX on a 262 motor with 18's. I was running a 13/38 but it ran through the gears too quick.
