Type of Oil

Hey everyone! Just wondering if anyone knows of a "cheaper" oil that i can use in my quad with out looseing performance or messing up my quad. I have a 2001 400EX Fully Stock. I'm getting pretty tired of paying 4 bucks a quart for the honda oil. Thanks for your help!

Any 10-50 weight oil really, as long as it's SAE approved........I use Moblie1, it's synthetic and about $4 a quart too. Keeps the motor cooler.:D

Not every oil is okay for a 400 engine, because we have the wet clutch.

You have to make sure that the oil your buying does not have friction modifiers.

If you do a search for oil there are tons of threads about it.

you have to search for oil like this oil* (4 letter search requirement)

Try Shell Rotella 15W 40

A 4 quart jug cost $5 - $7.

It is a heavy duty oil , it is not energy conserving, it will not affect wet clutch operation.

I have been using it for about a year now with not problems. When I change my oil (frequently) it comes out as thick as it went in.

I use valvoline 10w30 and it seems to do REAL well.

I use Mobil 1, its the break in oil for all dodge vipers, how can you go wrong with it? as far as cheaper goes..anything without friction inhibitors.

Mobil 1. It's cheap and you can get it anywhere.

yup jerry knows all bout luberacation. But serious mobil 1 isn't cheap.
