View Full Version : Sand Lake, Oregon info needed!

on the 17th we are goign to sand lake for a week,
a couple of days ago my aunt and her husband went their. and they said fires are banned andso is bbqing...
is that true....?
and i also heard that these kids were riding their bikes around the campground and they were under 16. and they got a huge ticket for riding under 16.... :huh
if this is true then we cant go cuase my brother is 11 ans he rides a breeze...
is SL really cracking down?
weve been going for about 12 years now, and once never had fires banned...

I haven't been there since early this spring so I don't know what has been going on lately.

if you're under 16 you can ride, you just need to be under "adult supervision", and wearing a helmet.

I was there thursday, and sandlake road is awful. it must have taken an hour to get from the highway to the parking lot. They have pilot cars and flaggers, and at one point the road was only about 8 feet wide with huge holes on either side.

BBQ's should be ok, how the heck are you going to cook otherwise? In fact, we had a campfire in one of their pits and nobody said a word. Maybe they just didn't notice, I don't know.

yeah i am over 16 but i was worried about my bro.
he always ride around the campground, the loop area.
and we were their in june and had to wait about 20mins.
so the must be alot further up i take it

Here the deal:

Fires and charcoal BBQ's are banned right now at Sand Lake. You can confirm by calling the Hebo Ranger Station at 503-392-3161.

Regarding helmets, if you are under 18 it is required that you wear a helmet and you must be supervised (within the control of) a person who is at least 18 years old.
