Anyone have any idea how to remove the 2 tiny screws that hold the needle when they are stripped???

I have never checked the needle clip position and need to...having some carb issues...

I bought the quad used so that's why it's stipped...I didn't do it.

any help??

take out the whole slide and use some pliers or vise grips to take them out

I JUST had this happen to me! This is what I did.

I removed the slide from the carb and used a piece of plastic with a hole in it to allow the needle to go through open vise jaws. Then using a flat tip screwdriver similar in size to the slot in the screws, I tapped on it gently with a small hammer until I cut a groove with the screwdriver deep enough to get bite to remove them. Warning: Don't use a screwdiver your not willing to destroy, as the electroncs screwdriver I used looks ruff now! The plastic is a padding for the slide as any nicks in it can cause big problems.

Good Luck!!!!!!:)

heres alittel trick i learned from a friend. Take some valve lapping compound and put it on your screw driver. Then try turning out the screw. The lapping compound wont let it slip. I have used this many times and it works great.

:D

use the correct screw driver and as you puch down tap the top of the handle with a small hammer, sometimes this will jar the screw enough to let it turn out , then replace them or cut slots in them and reuse good luck!

I might have to try the lapping compound sometime :)

Yep the exact thing happend to me. Just take out the slide and take a hammer and a screw driver to it. Pound the end of the driver and screw em out. Make sure u get new ones.

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO:D Got it out. I took some needle nose pliers with the teeth on them and buggered up the inside where the screwdriver sits, it was enough to gimme some bite..whew

BTW, My needle is on the 4th clip from top, should it be on the 3rd?? Look at my sig..

i think the 4th position should be fine. actually for me, the 4th position with a 42 pilot worked great for me when i was just running a different filter, no lid, and a gutted factory pipe. after i got my x-6, i needed a 45 pilot and the 4th position was too much. it would run rich. so i went back down to the third. if your not gettting any stumbling or missing anywhere, i would say leave it where you have it. what pilot do you have in?

42 pilot...I have a slight stumble/hesitation, just at 1/4 throttle.

id say before going back into the carb try leaning out the air/fuel mixture about a half a turn.
