how to find 250x year

i have a 250x from one of my dads friends here and im taking care of it and all that stuff and i was wondering. If there was a way to find out what year it is.

look on the frame, there should be a tag that says the year

Also look at the VIN number... certain yrs start with certain letters or somethin like that.. if u contact a dealer hed know most likely if hes any good

everything is cover up in paint and is there any different between the years of 250's

it's either a 87-88 or 91-92, very little difference, does it still have oem plastic, what color is it

If it has OEM plastic and it's Red and White it's 87-88.

If it's Blue and White it's 91-92.



87-88's Came with Silver Chain/Sprocket guards.
91-92's Came with Black Chain/Sprocket Guards.



Other than that, you'll have to find the sticker.

dang this is makin me miss my old X, it was a 88.... i rebuilt the top end and pry had 1000 into it, i liked it way better than my 300ex, the x was way more reliable......:( damn i wish i still had it.... o well i got the R!(my 2nd favorite quad)
