I need help. I was changing my oil, and as I was putting on the oil filter I broke off the long bolt inside. What is the best way to get that out off there? Or will I have to take apart the engine?

bring it to a machine shop, they will get it out in like 5 minutes, and prolly only charge like $10.

Do a search on it. It's been done alot on here.

Drill a hole in the broken bolt and use a bolt extractor (easy-out).

did u strip it or break it like in half? if you stripped it you can get a dremel tool & drill a thin line & then get it out with a flathead but you'll want to replace that bolt...

i stripped one, took it to the dealer and they put a heli coil in it for $15

if you broke it off you might be lucky enough to remove the side cover and it will stick out enough for you to get vise grips on it

no..get this...i pulled the bolt out & the middle looked weird so I pushed it in barely & it broke clean off....it didnt break inside my case...see I now have a ittle bit of thread to grip on the long bolt that broke so can I still use that pone for 1 day or should I wait to get a brand new bolt? :blah:

as cheap as hondas fasteners are...every time you take a bolt off...look at it good....especially the small ones...try oiling it before you put it back in or replace the bolt....screw...or whatever

Same thing on my EX when changing the filter I broke the long bolt on the filter cover. I have been rideing it for 4 mo now not even a drip of oil so far. I guess it's time to take the case apart soon.
