well the article did say that it is based on the crf motor and last i check the crf motor is a fourstroke that's what the f stands for

i think it's just derived from utilities which are called four traxx

i believe cr stands for competion racer im not to sure all the cr's are 2 smokes then they came out with the four stroke racer and added a f on to the end of cr meaning fourstroke racer

Well the article does say its the replacement for the legendary 250R.
So.....The 2 stroke confusion is understandable.

But it's being called a 450R instead of a 450EX
because it's gonna be a full on race quad (like the new YFZ)
instead of a sport quad (EX)????
Right????

Im asking about the full race thing
I know it's a 4 stroke.
But wouldnt a Honda 2 stroke 450 quad be sweet?

If it has not been obvious to anyone yet, let me help; 2 strokes are being phased out, soon you will have to buy a 4 stroke weedeater!

yup, so true, just look at the world of jet skis, the 4 strokes are starting to take over and i don't think honda would ever make another 2 stroke quad for the same reason they didn't make a 2 stroke ski

Thats why you have to go to the yamaha GP1200 or the new 1300R, then Honda has the turbo so that pretty damn fast.

The first thing I'll be doing after I bring this new 450R to my garage is yanking the stock 450 motor out the frame, splitting the case, and mic'n for maximum bore and stroke potential. While I have the motor down, I'll send the head to my trusty NASCAR machinist to port and flow the head and bore for larger valves, (after I clay in the motor), and send my crank out for stroking/hardened rod. Can't forget the cam and CS exhaust either. Should easily get 70% gain on top of stock after all these motor mods. 70% increase on 50= 85hp,...WOW!!

Meanwhile, while I'm doing R&D on the 450R, I'll still be out in the dirt roosting all the so-called competition on my incredible 502EX, HEH!

Should be fregg'n incredible
:D

I always thought/heard CR stood for crate racer, like ready to race right out of the crate/box. Anyways............yawn
