i have a set and i love them.. i compared them to my cusins DG nerfs and i think mine are alot better. they seem more sturdy and look a hellofa lot nicer

Glad you guys like the nerfs..

I think they'll do very well in the long run, although nerfs are not generally a forever item. We plated some parts to make them last longer, and the tubing is a little thicker than the other nerfs I know of. Today I bumped Andrew at a race, and last week he put me over a berm, and both times they held up fine.

I took a tumble yesterday and bent one of the bars along with the the foot peg:(
What is the best way to bend them back? The space between the front bar and the foot peg mounting bracket is about 1" less than the the other side. And the distance from the frame to the out side bar is about 3/4" shorter.
I haven't taken the crossbar off yet to see if it got bent. It is pushed back but I don't think it's bent.

i heard the teeth wear down really fast? is this just a rumor?, if it wasnt for this i'd get some in a heartbeat but now it look like ill be getting some cheap old DG's :(

That must have been quite a crash to bend a peg that is built on a casting.

Anyway, if I understand you correctly, the distance between the front part of the nerf that fits onto the cross tube and the part that bolts onto the peg is now too close together by about 1"

If that is the problem, take the nerf off, and fasten one end to something heavy, and try to bend it back out. Or you could try something easier. Simply stand on the part that the cross tube goes into, and basically pull up on the part that attaches to the peg. I bet you can get it into shape relatively easy that way. Kind of like a lat pull exercise when working out at the gym!

As for bending the peg back into position, if it's really bad and can't be fixed, try finding one on Ebay.

To the person who heard the teeth wear down really fast, that is very true on nerfs that have an aluminum peg. That's one of the big reasons I don't build them that way. On that type of nerf the aluminum cleat part of the peg wears off very quickly which also makes them slippery and dangerous. I'm not going to risk my foot or anyone elses on that design.

Check the photo above for the design we're talking about. It's entirely different than what you are thinking of.

I got the nerf pretty much back to where it should be, it's still a little off but not very noticable and I don't think the rear tire will rub anymore.:cool:
Took the handy BFH to the peg and it's closer to where it should be:muscle: :D
