if i take off the air box cover will i gain any power or just pull in more dust ????

Power gain is minimal stick with the lid,thats what they made it for.You WILL wear out rings quicker with holes or no air box lid.Your quad will HATE water as well.

I have never had an airbox lid on any of my ATV's for more than a week. Toss the lid and rejet. You'll be smoking your buddies that still have the lid on. Engine = Air pump. More in and out = more power. As long as you don't go into water more than 18" deep, you won't have any problems. The ONLY downside is that you'll have to clean your air filter a little more often.

my 440ex lasted over 2 years "rings" without a air-box, just a well oiled UNI hanging there, but i did have a spare and changed after every ride
