400 ex vibrates like crazy!!???

What could cause this thing to vibrate in the handlebars so much it makes my hands numb? If I put the peps steering dampener on it will it help? It has a 10.5:1 compression piston would that cause excess vibration? I just got this on Saturday, I've only had 250R's before this so maybe all 400ex's vibrate like this...Do they? Any help will be appreciated....thanx

If you are used to an R I find that four strokes vibrate more. I rode a raptor this weekend and couldn't believe the vibration.

Yeah I have never owned a 4 stroke and I just cant believe how it vibrates. It runs just fine so I couldn't figure out what else it could be. I checked the bolts and lugs and everything else I could tighten and they are all good. Maybe I'm just not used to it.

If you find out that its not just normal vibration you might have to look internaly. I derailed my chain once and when the motor locked it sheared a pin that holds the counter ballencer in the right spot it was off just a little bit but it vibrated pretty bad.
Hope you don't have this problem but you might get a 4 stroke rider to give you an idea if its normal vibration or not.

250RGUY it sounds like you have a little more vibration than you should have. I have a 440kit in mine and it has more vibration in the bars than stock but it don't make my hands go numb but maybe your just not used to it. Does the bike shake bad when its idleing?

The vibration occurs when the EX is high on rpms. Say 3rd gear reved up pretty good. Anytime I have high rmps and the supertrapp pipe gets loud it starts vibrating like crazy.
