There are pictures of the newest EX cam on Hot Cams' web site that clearly shows how the sprocket carrier is now mounted. No splines. The carrier is press fit and keyed to the shaft.

Why do we have several pairs of shoes, so when one gets dirty, there is another waiting there for you.

What I meant was more like do you use one for MX and the other for dune riding, dragging, etc.... Im not going to have two quads but I want to have two different motors until I can afford another. The one I have built is a 426, hotcam stage 2, etc.... And the 2nd one is going to be some kind of stroker 440 or 465, not sure if Im going to go with the big bore 465 though. Hardened rockers, webcam, 13.2:1...

Also once you get the hang of the engine swap, how long would it take to swap motors. If I go to Pismo I want the 465, but if we are rec riding, I want to use the 426 to keep the hours off the 465.

With the fenders removed. I used to be able to swap my 400Ex engines in less than 1 hour. I had it down to a science, and I only removed what I had too. The fastest time for me was 40 minutes. I use to time myself for fun.

I unfortunately, had plenty of practice.

I took my motor out in one hour including plastic.. that was my second time.
