The only thing five valves does over 4 is help it breathe a little better. It doesn't make that much difference, it's just different and it's Yamaha's thing.

Then you obviously haven't see either engine.

Those are not TRX450R engine pictures. However, it will basically look just like that, but be have a smaller bore (439).

So do you just talk out your *** all the time?? How do you know that they wont keep it at 450cc? because the yami is 440? And they would de-stroke it before they would ever make the bore smaller.

It only makes sence for honda to make it a 440cc, that way its legal to run in most 250 classes....

its gonna have 8 valves!!! that would be 3 more than yamaha so 5 isnt really that much!!:D

so do you just talk out your *** all the time, when they destroke it it lowers the cc:rolleyes: and if they made it a 450 it wouldnt be that good for gnc since the limit is 440

I believe it's a 439cc motor.....:blah:

I thought the GNC was changing to 450cc next year. And i said that if they made the cc smaller it would be by destroking it.

I really didnt say i know what they are going to do. I just know that woody needed a flame.

The pro production class limit is already 450cc's so why make it a 440?http://www.amadirectlink.com/rulebooks/supps/2003/2003ATVMX.pdf

because he was putting up pics saying it was the new quad motor, and it wasnt at all. Then he said it was going to have a smaller bore. I would like to know where he got that info from. I would guess that it would be destroked before the bore would be made smaller. Then all you have to do is buy a crf450 crank to make it a 450.

"The pro production class limit is already 450cc's so why make it a 440?http://www.amadirectlink.com/rulebo...3/2003ATVMX.pdf"

And thank you, this is why I dont see it being a 440.

You can not say that you weren't wrong before. Not need for all this flaming that goes on consistently :ermm:

Why would they go through the trouble of destroking it to get it to 439? If anything it would be a debore.

And yea, as mentioned those are just pre-release pics of the CRF450 motor.

Its funny watching people who really dont know anything argue with each other. :D

now dont start talking ****.

Destroking gives higher faster revs. And why would they do it??? I dunno, ask Yamaha. they did it with the YZF450...

And the pics are jsut of a regular CRF450 Motorcycle motor that they are using to make conversions. Its not pics of the new motor that will be in the new bike.

It would be nice if Honda just sleves the cylinder instead of putting a new cylinder on it, it would be so nice just to change sleves and pistons!

No kidding that's the bike. I'm not stupid. I meant those were the photos released before the CRF450R dirtbike came out..

And destroking may lead to higher/faster revs, but deboring means torque. IE, deboring te motor to 439 would have more torque, but rev slower and have less top end than destroking the motor to 439 would have.

if I knew it was the bike motor and you knew it was then why are you calling me dumb.

And yes i know you have more torque with more stroke, But the high revs seem to work a lot better.

Look at the Predator. Almost the same piston size as a raptor, but a lot less stroke. Its only 500cc and they are barely slower if not the same as a raptor. They kill raptors out of the hole shot. I know, i had one. I think if they have a choice they will go with the destroke instead of debore.

I was actually thinking about boring my old raptor out to 686 and then destroking it down to around 600cc. make it a high revving beast. But i sold it. :ermm:

Either way I know yamy went with destroking the yzf450 quad motor instead of deboring.

Sorry about the flame fest that started. I take responsibility for it.

This is getting locked for a variety of reasons. 1.)The flames and 2.)I'm already tired of the TRX450R threads we've got here.

There are at least 3 threads going right now concerning the same subject. I'm going to merge all of them together into one thread and then keep the discussion in that one thread.
