View Full Version : how do i get rid of scratches on a motor?

anyone know of any thing that is good for taking out scratches, the motor on one of my 3 wheelers has lots of scratches and i wanted to get rid of them, anyone know of a spray or anything? what about that stuff that you rub on scratches on cars?

are you talking about scratches in the paint??

If it's in the metal, you'd have to sand them out, and repaint. If it's just in the paint spray over it with the same color.

400 wet or dry should be good for removing scratches on unpainted aluminum. Use wet with water. Aluminum polish after that.

if there light scratches, some rubbing compound should do the trick. if there heavier, sand\repaint

of if you dont wanna paint over them and it is aluminum, it can be polished or left bare.

theyre very light scratches so id like to get them out by rubbing them with a special product for scratches.

no product for cars actually gets rid of a scratch in the paint. they have some fillers, but they are just that. The scratch-x and stuff like that are for clear coat scratches. When clearcoat gets scratched the edges are sharp around the cut, thats what reflects the light and makes them show up. Scratch products just kind round off that sharp edge and somewhat fill in the scratch. These things arent gonna work on the motor
