What/where is Grindstone?

kickin440
08-06-2003, 12:22 PM
Grindstone is a mx track at Hamilton MO They have a race once a month. They have a quad weekend, a practice weekend, bike weekend, practice weekend again. It alternates like that.
They have a pretty cool track with some pretty big doubles a big tabletop finish. (I think its something like 40ft to double and 90ft to triple it)They also have trails everywhere. open sat. and sun.
Go to www.showmeatvracing.com go to links and there is a website for it.

I live in Columbia

Ride up at Finger Lakes some, just cause it's close.
I prefer St Joe state park.

Cinigen where in Fulton do you ride? Is it private land?

cinigen9
08-07-2003, 02:21 AM
Fulton - lake potawatame (sp??). It is on the east side of fulton, I believe on 10th street, about 3 miles outside of the city. It is only about 350 acres, but is a good change of pace and worth the drive from columbia. quad friendly mx track, small oval track, trails and campgrounds.

I will be in a red crew cab GMC. we will have a gray 400ex and a yellow and red banshee. And Mark will be on a yellow 400ex and driving his white extended cab GMC. We usually make several trips back to the trucks for repairs so we'll probably see you some time!!

Hey Chuck some of us will be racing in Spokane this Sunday. Have you raced any of the HGP Series?

cinigen9
08-14-2003, 05:37 AM
Mark - I am going to try and make it down - looks about 50/50 now. Do you know what time the atv's start? It gives a 11am start time, but doesnt say for which - bike or atv.

What are the conditions like at this race? Rocky, fast, rough, all of the above!!??

Carson

toby400ex
08-14-2003, 06:13 AM
I guess you could call this a fast track. Last year i only remember the small creek we went through to rocky. I think my vision was impared cuz of the frozen over goggles then sleet in my eyes after i took em off.:blah:

markeg192
08-14-2003, 06:29 PM
Carson the HGPs are usually tight and rough. Spud likes to keep it slow I think cause you use 2nd alot. ATVs start at 11 so get there early or just come down Saturday and sleep there like the rest of us. We sure would enjoy the company.

kickin440

kickin440

I run 15\39 and cody runs 15\38 and if not mistaken Mark runs
16\39 Glenn runs 15\38 also. I saw a guy run a 16\36 once. Seems pretty high to me though.

markeg192
08-15-2003, 06:19 PM
I'm running 16/39 right now but was thinkink of going back to stock. !6/39 will run somewhere over 75mph.

86atc250r
08-15-2003, 06:32 PM
Carson, if you decide to come down, have Mark point me out... I won't be racing (my quad's still setup for flat track), but I will likely be there taking pics & stuff...

markeg192
08-15-2003, 06:43 PM
Hey Gabe you guy got any racing Saturday night?

86atc250r
08-15-2003, 06:51 PM
Sorry, bad timing - next Saturday in Clever - only about 15-20 minutes from where Sunday's race is being held.

markeg192
08-15-2003, 06:54 PM
What kind of racing?.......Didn't I see you post on atv connection that a 250x (Alms I assume) ran a 5.6 down there?

86atc250r
08-15-2003, 07:06 PM
Yep,

We drag race and flat track every other Saturday during the summer.

Something came together on the old 250X a few weeks ago and he beat my 400. It all the sudden that weekend it began running .5 seconds faster than normal. This past weekend it was back to where it should be. Must have been atmospheric conditions.

His time was actually 6.1, but that was with RT figured in. Which means he did a 5.6ET or better. My best is a 5.3 or 5.4 on the 400.

He should be racing the HGP this Sunday on his yellow 400. The 250X has been retired to flattrack, ATV rodeo, and drags.

markeg192
08-15-2003, 07:16 PM
What class is Gregg running this year? I got tired of getting spanked by a 250x last year. lol Maybe a wider bike will slow him down a bit.

86atc250r
08-15-2003, 07:26 PM
That drag racing thread was funny. It surprized me that a few of those guys were telling me that my quad, the 250X and the YFZ wouldn't turn the numbers they do - funny thing is the one guy that was within driving distance promptly shut up when I invited him to come to the races and see for himself.

I'd say Gragg will be moving into the intermediate class this year. He's gotten faster on the 400. He won the overall at the last AHSCS we attended (I was helping with scoring :)). Mike Carter led most of the race, but had Suzuki trouble (what's new). Gragg was chasing a Raptor and Mike and eventually passed them both.

The HGP may be a different story though - courses are tighter....

I just need to make sure I stay in front of him this year. So far so good, but I need to get back into shape after our long break this summer.

markeg192
08-15-2003, 07:31 PM
Who bought the YFZ? Let me guess .........Shane? There's a couple around here and they're pretty nice but I think my 440 is all I need. Hey maybe sometime when you guys are draggin on the 1/8th we'll all come down. We do some of it up here and I really enjoy it

86atc250r
08-15-2003, 07:43 PM
:)

I think Shane is going to buy a TRX450R - I think he's finally fed up with his Raptor and last time I talked to him he said something like "I'm not buying another d@mn yamaha".

I don't know if you know Jason Young or not, but he bought the YFZ. Die hard Yamaha guy...

markeg192
08-15-2003, 07:55 PM
I like Shane. Glad to hear he's seen the light.I guess I'll see ya Sunday and hope you end up racing. If not we'll talk about it anyway.
