i just installed a wiseco 11:1 piston, stock bore and a hotcams stage 2 cam. my question is that it wont idle. i adjusted the idling screw on the carb and it will idle pretty descent but when you give it a little gas and then let off the rpms still stay up. any help would be much appreciated.

Did you have your carb off? If so you probably got some dirt or something in it. I would try cleaning it first.

i did have the carb off. it seems like the throttle is sticking so maybe, hopefully it its just a little trash in the carb.would the wrong jetting cause it to do this?

I did the same setup that you have and my jetting stayed very close to the same. But I had the same problem and it wound up being a dirty carb. I sprayed carb cleaner in the holes on the back behind the slide lots of crud came out and it ran like a champ!

There seems to really be an abundance of poor idleing 400's with the idle raceing and lowering around right now...weird:confused:

tried cleaning the carb but still does the same thing. do you think that i need a bigger jet? i have a 170 main jet. should i go with a bigger main jet and change the stock pilot jet

Main jet has nothing to do with idle.

Its all about the pilot jet and air screw. I have a #42 in mine with 2 and 1/2 turns out on the airscrew. Mines close, but not yet. I may try a #45 pilot.

I've been told a lean pilot will/can cause that condition...

Well I can't help much with any other problems jets and me don't get along. All i can tell ya is I am running a 168 main and stock pilot and it has been working fine for three years so it must be close. Sorry I can't help more. Good luck
