now i know its a FCR39mm carb. now do you guys think this carb would fit on a 400ex?? because im thinking if it now comes stock on a yfz450 then maybe we can get the FCR39mm cheaper than buying it direct from an aftermarket company.

do you guys think its possible?

i doubt you would get it for cheaper. honda has the best prices for OEM parts. I bet buying through yamaha wouldnt save you any money

I highly doubt it would be cheaper. I was told the FCR for the yfz was $300 more than the cheaper CV type they would normaly use. Yamaha really stepped it up by throwing an fcr in there, so people wouldn't be buying them after. The FCR designed for the 400 ex would also bolt right up with no hassel. They are worth it.

The FCRs used on the YZF dirt bikes and maybe even the ones on the CRFs have throttle position sensors on them, which are useless if you were to install one of these on a 400ex. If you go to www.partsfish.com or www.bikebandit.com and look at the online microfiches for the dirtbikes, you can see how different these FCRs are than the ones you can buy from Sparks, C&D, etc...

It is not made by Yamaha; it's a Keihin carb. The same company that makes Hondas carbs.
