on this site in the faq, there is a pipe shootout for the 400ex. i may be wrong but i think they show the decibals. they even tested the stock pipe.

I made them check mine at the last poker run, it was 89db. My buddies WB slip-on with 10 discs was 96 if I remember right.

i am almost positive you can get it from this site. i think you just go to the forums scroll down a bit can click on faq. read through the faq's and there should be a pipe shootout or something of that nature.

remember, since these tests were done many new pipes are out and other may have been modified. this may not be the most up to date, but it should give you a good idea.

just remember,..... For every 3 dB increase in sound pressure level (SPL), volume doubles in amplitude.

This means if your stock exhaust is 89, and you install a slip-on that was measured at 92- you have doubled the volume

Don't believe? Think of it in terms of stereo speakers,....

If you had 50Watt speakers and replaced them with 100Watt speakers, how many dB increase in SPL is that?
10Log(P1/P2) >>>> 10Log(100/50) = 3 dB

So,... for every 3 dB increase, your loudness doubles, then 3 more doubles on top of that, and so on, and so on,.... ext.

Can you see how loud 112 dB is?? Of coarse this is all relative to the distance away from the pipe, rpm of the motor, bla, bla bla.,,,,

Hope this helps! :)
