I am just starting mx and I am thinking about a long travel suspension but I am wondering if long travel is what I need, or if normal travel is good enough for someone who is just starting out.

i agree with ripping and also i wouldnt get long travel unless you do big jumps. since your starting out i would just get regular travel a-arms till your comfortable on a mx track then sell them and get long travel shocks and arms

No sense in wasting your money. Buy the long travel stuff now so you dont waste more of your checkbook. Go all out so you dont have to rebuy better stuff.

i agree with norrisboat. if this is something u wanna do, then just buy long travel first. long travel isnt that much more expensive, unless ur talkin a roll front end or protrax front end. those r expensive. i know i wish i would have gotten long travel in the first place. now im stuck with standard travel(dont get me wrong still nice, but i have not been able to make it no where near as nice as long travel).

I have heard though that long travel doesn't even make that much difference. If you have you shocks setup properly then it isn't going to make a huge difference. I you have and/or willing to spend the money then I would look in to long travel.

buy LT right off the bat, its worth it!!
its not that nessecary for a beginner though, some pros still use standard travel!!
