I want to build a 416 that I can run 93 octane gas with. Is 11:1 compression ok for 93, or will it ping? Does a cam affect what octane you can use too(or just compression?)?

I'm pretty sure you'll be ok. I think its when you get to 12:1 or more that you'll need race gas.

a cam will not effect the fuel or anything with jetting. a cam just keeps your valves open longer and gives more top end

if a valve is open longer won't more air get in and more exhaust move out?

yup more fuel and air will be let in and then more exhuast will be let out. then its usually a good idea to get a higher compression piston to compensate for the valves being open longer

i have a je 10.8 comp Je with xr400 headgasket and mine wont run on 93...i mix one gallon of 110 to 3 gallons of 93...but wiseco's compression ratios arent correct so i dont think you will be as high as 11:1

Its only the Wiesco 440s that are incorrect.
