we will be interviewing william yokely in the immediate future so i need some help with what questions to ask him. yokely doesnt have access to the internet so we will post the interview after meeting with him. so...if ya have any thing youd like to know or ask post it here:)

we will be conducting site interviews for several different pro riders as this progresses. please keep the questions short and to the point.

also, this wont be limited to gncc pro's as we will be contacting gnc pro riders and other industry leaders as well. and if you have access to a well known rider or maybe even an up and coming racer please send me thier contact info.

thanks for the support :)

Ask him if he wants to become a new mod.....

Actually, I wouldn't mind knowing what he would be doing if he wasn't racing GNCC's.

Also, the son wants to know, what is his favorite part about racing?

Not sure we know enough to ask him any technical questions...:ermm:

It'd be pretty cool to hear from pros in hill climbs like Pike's Peak(Bobby Parr), ice racing (Rath??), TT racing, etc.

This is definitely a big thing for this site...Thanks in advance guys for bringing us these interviews! :)

I'am from the west coast, raced there most of my life. Cross Country racing and all atv racing is not and will never be as big as the east. It's simply a number's thing, the population number's are very low in the west. When I moved back here 15 year's ago FST was supposed to be Powroll East because when we looked at where all the buisness was it was here. The GNC race's did start back on the west coast in the early 80's with the 3-wheeler's,my ex-father-in-law was the one who got the national's going with American Honda/Toyota the main sponcer's.(win money was alot better than too!):D Oh and be looking for that two stroke from Kawi.

i would assume the new 4 stroke will be thier new kxf250 mx motor in a knockoff 250x/300ex frame. finnally some competition in the sport class! if your not on a 300ex or blaster, it dosent seem like you have a prayer in that class

The WORCS series is doing great in the west....the winners in bike pro are taking home no less than $5000 for a win....I am not sure what quad pro is paying, but it is a heck of a lot more than anybody will ever win in GNCC...I know Eichner is happy!
The bike pros in GNCC are lucking to win $1k at a GNCC and that is if they are participating in all contingencies.

The Coombs family was offered to work with the WORCS series in doing some west coast stuff and then having an East/West shootout for a final....but they turned it down.

Take a look at contingencies offered for quads in WORCS...its has so many more companies participating and gives more back to the riders. If it builds on the east coast, the WORCS will definately have a real National offroad series. GNCC is more a regional series with no interest in expanding....

In the early 80's the sponser's (Honda/Toyota)put up $25.000 cash each race, but it did't last long because rider turn out was small and the sponser's are not going to keep giving with no return on there investment. No big name eastcoast rider's are going to travle that far and that's what it would take.

12gofast
08-07-2003, 04:05 PM
What do you mean no east coast riders are going to travel that far.....Andy Lagzdins went to some early races as well as quite a few bike racers.
Look how many west coast guys come east for hardly no payout....if the factories get serious the WORCS series will grow.

Remember where the factories are based.....heck even the Troy supercross team that represents a shop in Ohio is based in California.!!

BTW, I was watchin tapes of the 2002 GNCC races and good ol Johnny G was on there a few times. ;)

How about asking where the future of atv's is heading with all the tree huggers trying to ban atv's. Will there just be changes in the atv laws or do you think they could succeed in banning them?

The WORCS series is def. going through some first year growing pains (at least the East series). But, it is a viable platform and has already seen a huge growth in turnout for Quads (around 100 the last 3 races). With a little more organization I think it will do well next year. As far as money goes, with the pro purse and Maxxis contingency, I have made between $400-$600 for a win (there are many more programs, but not if you ride an R). Bill keeps the purse payouts real close, maybe only 25-50 bucks difference for each place and he pays down to 5th. I would like to see a top 3 payout with the lion's share going to the winner. We are def. playing 2nd fiddle to the bikes and get little to no respect, but it is improving. When we get 250 quads show up for a race with 25-30 pros, I think the outlook will improve.

Mickey,
They had a race 2 days after the GNCC opener about 100 miles away. Why didnt your team show up there? Everyone was already close. Some big teams like yours and Dirt First that have a good setup would look real good for us.

WOOLIN
08-08-2003, 06:50 AM
I believe the worcs has better pay outs because of all the west coast coverage and sponsors. ATVTV has shown several bits of the series, and so has atv world. I haven't seen any GNCC coverage on those shows, so without the spotlight there will be no money!!!!

But that just my opnion:ermm:

Sorry Adam I didn't see your post. The team had to head to GA. to do testing and two mag. articles. Most of the riders are on a tight budget and could only do the races that they contracted to do.
