High Octane

Whats the highest octane youve ever put into your quad? I heard that your only supposed to run 93 in them. I put some 87 in mine and it makes it run like CRAP!

I run 93 in mine all the time but have no need for a higher octane gas. Some people around me put like 100+ octane in their bikes but is not really worth it unless you have engine work done. BTW in the Dirtwheels review on the YZF450 is said that you should run high octane gas, how high is that reffering to, like the vp or whatever its called gas thats high octane? Thanks

I run Vp c-12 which is 108 octane.

I thought B-32 was a 108 octane rating... atleast thats what I ran last year and it was b-32 at 108.

Unless you have higher compression, high octane fuel will do nothing for your quad. Its a waste of money...

I'm at 11.2:1 and run a 50/50 mix of 91 and 110. I probably don't even need to run that much 110, I just do just incase it starts to ping when it gets real hot...

i think this is BS......my friend says that mixing a 93 & an 89 makes the octane run around 100....what ya'll thinks about that?

no because the 89 dillutes the 93 so it will be somthing in between

i run in all the bikes 93 with some octane booster, so around maybe 96

dont waste ur money on race gas unless you need too. My dad bpught me 87 one time and it was fine, but i put 93 in and it seemed a little smoother overall. but not enough to make me wanna spend 5 bucks a gallon on gas, i think a 1.35 is enough :eek2:

see how u saw it was smoother with 93 imagen, 108, it also runs cooler, thats what i heard, can some1 tell me this is right
