Is the uni filter for the 400ex a two piece that's taken apart for cleaning or is it one piece? I bought a used 400 and the filter that's on it now is a foam filter. It's red on the outside and yellow on the inside, but doesn't come apart for cleaning and there is a wire culinder that slides out of the filter. It doesn't say uni on it.

I would say that it is prolly a uni... and the word uni just wore off from cleanings etc... cuz my uni filter is red on the outside and yellow on the inside....

thanks for the replies
It sounds like a Uni. If so, it does not come apart (yellow foam and red stuff). As pappy pointed out, there is a wire mesh that should be with it.....this does come out.
Stock is yellow outer and grey inner with a basket/wire mesh under it.

Does it have a black rubber thing on the back of it, to slip over a nipple on the wire cage? If so it is not a uni. UNIs are longer than the OEM filter and dont have any thing on the back side. A WB filter on the other hand, is the sane length as the OEM filter and uses the OEM basket. Hence the rubber thing on the back of it.
