when putting an aftermarket silencer on a 4stroke do you have to get jets too, even if you dont get the header.

of course you dont HAVE to buy jets. but an exhaust increases airflow (both a slip-on and a full system), and to compensate for that newfound airflow you NEED to buy bigger jets.besides, bacckfiring coming from your pipe and trashing your piston because you didn't "feel" like spending 15$ and 1 hour on buying and installing jets just isn't cool. spend the few bucks you'll need to buy jets and install them yourself (any novice mechanic can do it, i did) and i PROMISE you'll be happier than if you simply installed an exhaust and didn't re-jet.

so, to answer your question, you dont have to. but why would you want to hurt your motor?

p.s. same rules apply to 2 strokes too :D

would it be okay to use a k&N filter with a stock pipe?

sure, just make sure you rejet slightly higher to compensate for the extra airflow
