i like it....you didn't mess anything up man...you get tired of it you still have plenty of room to knock that end off there and still have a little fender left...i like it..now do the rears....do it do it do it...
haha.....do the rears right on the tip's...

01-20-2002, 08:07 PM
pretty cool. I think it woud look better if the flames went for the full length of the fender instead of just the top but what you did is still cool. and you should do the back too

01-20-2002, 08:28 PM
You will get lots of looks with that! It cool it makes your 400 stand out.

Chef
01-20-2002, 08:43 PM
that looks pretty good, how did you do it with the plastic being so thick though?

Juggalo
01-20-2002, 08:59 PM
yee-haw 400ex shut up! that was really mean and uncalled for. anyways i think the fenders look kinda good but the second they get muddy i wouldn't be suprised if the flames snap off or bend from the mud sticking to them

desert-rider
01-20-2002, 09:04 PM
keep them coming.

I am usually very hesitant about doing stuff to my quad, but after my brother drew those flames on there i knew i had to cut. i figured it would look good and make it different than other cut fenders.

desert-rider
01-20-2002, 09:35 PM
1st lay out cut line
2nd-4th make shure the line is good
5th cut
6th sand
7th done post on here to show off what you have done:D

Tools that i used brother that could draw with marker: dremel tool with cutting bit, polishing bit. thats it

very cool idea man
maybe you could use some model car paint to accent the tips of the flames, make them stand out more

Them are the greatest fenders I have ever seen. I wish I could have thought of that before I cut mine not to long ago. You should patent that design and sell it to say full bore. I would love to buy something like that.

GREAT JOB

i think you missed my point in my last response. i'm saying that when you hit some mud the mud is going to stick to the fenders right? well if it sticks to those flames, then their not going to have enough support, and then they'll either break off or get bent down.

01-21-2002, 12:11 PM
Bravo. Bravo. I often thought about doing some flames on mine, but I would have never thought of that. Great Job. Very original.

mitty_ex
01-21-2002, 02:13 PM
I don't think they will bend or break. From the look of it they look nice and thick. He didn't leave them real thin anywhere. I don't think he'll have any problems with the mud. Now if he smacks into something, that's a different story.

My responce was not directed towards you "Juggalo" it was directed too "YEE-HAW_400EX_Racer" but it was edited by leo so now it dosen't make sence, unless you read what he wrote before it was edited.

Thanks everyone for the responce, I was worried about how they looked. Myself i love them but i was just curious why no one else had done it. It was almost too easy. Took only about an hour. Hardest part was geting all the fuzzy stuff off, from the cut.

As for the back, only if the front holds up well.

GREAT JOB i agree,i think there is money in that for some reason.i like it but i am lil old school and would stick to the regular design but i can think of a few people who would eat that up.it is very different and everyone wants to be different.i would hang out at the local track for a day and seek other riders opinions.;)

Desert-Rider,
How much mud is there in the desert?

01-22-2002, 04:35 PM
I think it turned out pretty good. I like how it stands out. The only thing I recommend is putting some yellow on the end of your flames....I think that would accent really nice. That is the first one I've seen.....looks cool:cool:

Funny you say that; i did it last night, with some craft paint. I liked the way it turned out so i will get some better paint and redo it.

That is an awesome idea!
You should do that to the back of the rear fenders too, maybe throw some paint on em too.
Good work dude:D

looks awsome. plus you were smart and left room to just do the regular cut of the fenders if those break off when you roll it.

I think its pretty cool. First time I've seen it done that way. Anyway its your quad, do what you like. I powdercoated my frame mirror black with prism powder in it. Some like it, some don't. But its my quad not theirs. Your flames are awsome!

Thats pretty nice. Its little personal touches like that, that'll stand out in the crowd. Better than the same old store bought stuff you typically see on most.
