I am 32 years old and am switching from bikes to quads. What is a good gearing for a mostly stock 400ex? Also, what are the quad classes? I want to race beginner quad because I have never raced on a quad, but will they let me since I am a veteran cr250 rider? I would appreciate any tips.

stock gearing should be fine on a stock 400.

the C clas or novice is a goo dplace to start...and they wont count the bike expierence. youll know what class to run after a race or two...and good luck:)

Thanks, I am used to the instant punch of a bike, but I am going top try to get used to the quad. Ive heard some folks say put a 14 tooth front sprocket on, but I think I will try the stock first.

i really liked the instant "punch" mine had with a 14 tooth and 18 inch turfs. i could ride the track a gear higher and pull outta the corners much better. they are cheap so maybe try both:)
