Axle carrier and sprocket

I went for a short ride today only about 1/2 or 45 minutes. When I got back home my swingarm right by the sprocket was pretty hot. Also the sprocket was also hot, it was more hot than the swingarm. Would my chain just heat up the sprocket. Is this normal?

I would also check the bearing in the bearing carrier. Put the rear end in the air and see if the axle has any play. I would think bearing before chain.
