Well i was riding today when i noticed my shifter moved down farther to the ground so when i got home i to the shifter off and the gear shifter rod that comes out of the engine was broke so know i have to replace that and i think buy looking at the parts break down i while have to split the hole engine just to replace that. Has anyone else ever had that happen.

Im pretty shure you have to split the cases, when u say broke do you mean all the way off or just cracked? Cause could you weld it?

yep, you are in for some serious work. You DO have to split the cases for that. My suggestion...if you are NOT mechanically inclined (be honest), have someone do it for you. There are MANY pieces to inside there that can EASILY be overseen when putting it all together. But, if you do have faith in your ability, got a service maual and have at it. Since you have it apart anyways, now would e a perfect time to throw in a 416 kit and a cam:macho

Good luck

already have a gt cam and 11:1 piston in it because i had the split the engine apart because of the the drain bolt threads broke a guy before me over tighted it. well i am going to motorcycle mechanic institute in a couple of weeks so i should be able to do it myself some time

I saw a shifter rod on ebay for $2.00 It would be better than buying a new one for around $60 through ServiceHonda.

Here is the link. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43971&item=2426093096)

Just throw a little JB Weld on there, you'll be fine...
