i put a new 440 kit in my 400ex and got my head cleaned out and it wont start. all it does is pop. valves are set perfect, timing is off by not even a quater of a tooth. need help quick, whats wrong?

is it turning over fast enough too start, battery fully charged? getting gas? spark? etc.

yea, its everything is good.. it blew a blue flame out the exhaust a few times..

do i need to use race fuel?

Do you have an aftermarket rev box on it? If so take it off and put the stock one on. Mine did the same thing, I put the stock box on and wala!! she fired right up.

Check the simple stuff like making sure the gas is on, the sparkplug is all the way in etc.... It does sound like the timing is off though. You might be 180 degrees out. In other words when you set it up at tdc you could be one full revolution off. Did you check to make sure your valves are loose at tdc? It would start fine without race gas, it is not that. You will need race gas though if your compression is 10.8:1 or higher. Everytime I have built a engine it started right up. thats why I think your timing is off. good luck:)
