Support quad FMX in the X-games!!!! You can help!

Hey everyone!!! :D

I have been talking with Chris Johnson for a little while now - he's a West Coast freestyler who has been actively trying to get quad FMX into the X-Games and Gravity Games......preferably in 2004!!! One of the things he is doing, besides gathering stats and gaining sponsor interest, is collecting e-mails from ATV enthusiasts and anyone else interested in seeing ATV Freestyle added to the X-games/Gravity games and forwarding them to the right people! Here is an exerpt from his post on the H-bomb site.......

"Everybody wants to know when it's going down...including myself and all the other riders, companies, sponsors, etc. that are involved in getting ATV Freestyle involved in the X-Games and Gravity Games. I'm shooting for 2004, but it all depends on the amount of support we get from EVERYONE involved in the ATV Industry.
So far we've received help/support from companies such as; Renegade Racing, H-Bomb Films (Wes Miller), 5150 Clothing Designs, Team Loco, Trail Tech, Mac Racing Inc., Banshee HQ, and more. Help has also come from FMX Riders/ATV Riders such as; Kenny Bartram, Dustin Miller, Jon Guetter, and myself...with more to come.

I told him that EXRiders was a killer site, and that we had a TON of members......and I told him I'd post on here to see how much support we can generate for this VERY worthy cause!!!

yea i just got a letter and a bunch of stickers from him. All i can say is I really appreciate how hard he's working at this and when quads do get in the X games and Gravity Games we know who to thank...

50s can go really big too i dont know if you saw the pics of the guy hittin a ramp on his 50 at 37 ft gap about 18-20 ft high, they do flips spins and all the tricks bikes and quads do too

Hello, my name is Brandon McFarland and I have been an atv rider and enthusiast for 6 years. Atv Freestyle can really push the envelope in the x-games, and is JUST as competitive and exciting as Dirtbike Fmx. With atv's in the X-Games, the number of viewers would increase by at least several hundred thousand avid atv riders, including myself who would tune in to watch. Atv's would also garner much attention from sponsorships to the x-games, and would bring a fresh spin to X-games motorsports.. eventually yes, I hate to say it, people WILL get tired of seeing the same motorcyclists jumping through the air. The X-Games NEEDS quads to make it more exciting and enjoyable to hundreds of thousand of people more.The same people who enjoy dirtbike fmx will love atv fmx. Atv fmx is not very far behind the tricks being performed by the dirtbikers, as the first Back-flip is soon to be performed, and would most likely make it in time for the x-games, if that is you bring in our rapidly growing sport.

Are you guys really that into freestyle on a quad. I think it looks kinda cheesy when people do tricks on quads , compared to the bikes. ALthough after a couple minutes of seeing the same tricks the bikes get boring as well.

how do you figure other than if you wreck its gonna hurt worse. but lets talk steralizers so much easier to do on a quad, and if you dont get all the way back on some tricks sometimes you can salvage it cause the quad wont swap when you land. i would love to see quads make it to x but what if it doesnt impress the crowds and it never gets a second chance, i think they should wait until the backflip can be pulled consistently on a quad. but i would much rather watch quads than that gay speed climbing.:rolleyes:

I don't think anyone would be bored watching the quads freestyle..........I think if it made it in it would be very popular. But that's just my .02. Besides, if quads were allowed into the X-games, the new tricks that would come up would be amazing to watch - the competition would definately be stepped up and there would be new tricks coming from everywhere......there is also a lot of new blood in quad freestyle - it does get kind of old watching the same bike guys year after year. I'm not bashing FMX.....I love to watch it. But new faces and machines would be a breath of fresh air........:)

quads would be awsome in there i think all kinds of ppl would watch them cause its somethn new other than bikes.

there isnt enough for a full field, let them run against the bikes with a bigger course with ramps and stuff set up for quads, i was watching qualifying and i see jon do tricks as big or bigger than some of the guys who made it in, i think if it was quads against quads it would get old, keep it freestyle mx but just allow guys to run quad or bike and make the course freindly to each:confused2

what do you mean alot of the contest gaps are around 75 ft thats what wes had the ramp at bardstown at wasnt it?

on quads u gotta work wit the fenders, hit jumps faster to make up for the weight, and they're tougher to maneuver in the air than bikes IMO

I use too...I was under the name DJ Scratch & Sniff...it never sold. I guess when I spit game, I had the tendency to drool too much. (that was dumb huh?)!
I moved to Quad Freestyle about 2 years ago, but I've been coming up short of Pro recognition because of injuries, and I'm from Oregon...so it's not been easy. Right now I'm coming off an 8 month sit after tearing my ACL, MCL, and MM in my right knee. I had to go through reconstructive knee surgery, they had to cut my hamstring and drill holes through my knee and femur to thread the new piece into the right spot. On the upside, I did get some metal in the knee, and the new meat is braided for extra strength.
I'll be practicing for the remainder of 2003 season. I'll be setting up a freestyle compound with ramp/s over the next few weeks, and hope to be riding with all these guys real soon.

Haven't read all the posts on this here, so gimme a break, but IF ATV freestyle doesn't work...why give ATV racing a shot...? They have snowmobile racing in the winter X-Games (i think it's the winter X-Games.) And snowmobiles never get boring to me...I could watch them all day, but that could be because I have one.
