I ride stock 400ex ohtsu radials in the rear. they are starting to lose some of their tread and with about 8 inches of snow around here that is becoming a problem! i dont really want to spend over 100$ on holeshots so i was wondering if any of you have had any expirience with tire chains, any pros and cons? thanks.

Holeshots?

Yeah they are a brand of tires. I am surprised you have never heard of them. Almost all of the racers use them or a tire similar to them.

I havn't ridden holeshots on the snow but i'm guessing they wouldn't work worth crap. holeshots and turf tamers arn't that great if you arn't on dirt motorcross tracks or grassy areas

I probably should of 'labrated.

I just recently ran my new razrs (like holeshots) in dry snow - didn't do to good. Slush - didn't go at all.

I read mud tires go good in snow.

All yeah, this is about tire chains isn't it?

I would be afraid of tire chains. I think they are more for utility quads because the tires will spin less. There is always the chance of it coming off and pretty much destroying your whole rear end. I would buy some alltracs or suretracs for the snow if you have 8 inches of it.

I agree...........go with a good mud tire for deep snow. off to the proper forum with this one :)
