chrome pipes

im gonna be getting a chrome pipe for my three wheeler soon and wanted to know why the chrome headers turn blue. and how can i prevent this from happening to me.

Heat is what causes the chrome to turn blue, so you may have a hard time keeping it from happening. But an old hot rodders trick is to take some heavy gauge copper wire, make sure it is bare wire, and wrap it around the header pipe about a half inch from the manifold. This will act as a heat sink

You can also buy this stuff called Blue Away. Never tried it though.

You can buy some stuff at Wal Mart in the gun section they use it to get the blue off of the barrells of guns.

Which exhaust did you decide to get for your 350x?

I believe most Harley dealers carry this Blue Away stuff as well.

i bought some blue away from east wood. it takes the blue coloring off but it keeps coming back though.:ermm:
