i was wondering if on a 400 ex the light, kill switch and starter buttons take them out not use the lights and splice the kill switch wires together and use a dirtbike killswitch button as the starter button and get rid of all the big boxy mess???

yeah you can use like a yz dirtbike kill switch or something. i've seen it done many times.
