I have some questions for all you guys who did quad conversions...these might sound stupid, but what is counter balancing the motor? Where can i get it done?
I have a welder...well my dad and grandpa does, but is there any one on here in pa that if i bring my frame and motor too can weld me on some new mounts...for a cost of course:p

motors like the 250r had a counter balancer to minimize vibration in the frame, the regular cr250 dirtbike motor does not have a counter balancer but it has the ruber motor mounts. if you put a cr250 motor in a quad frame it would cause a lot of vibration in the frame.

i just picked up my yz426 motor to put in my frame but instead of cutting and welding my stock frame im going to see what arens does with his new frame and sell my stock frame and buy one of his.

You cant counterbalance a bike motor. The cases aren't built right. Do a search, theres only about 1500 threads on this.

You can't just add a counterbalance to a motor, it requires mounts and bearings within the case, it requires a drive off the crankshaft, not to mention the space to put it in. These aren't things you can just "add" to a motor.

well i still have some questions about this whole counter balancing thing...
What do the 426 riders do?

also i was reading the issues of dirtwheels with the crf450, 600ex, and the ktm520 and non of them said anything about a motor shaking, or ratteling. And the crfmotor was used in the dirtbike also, so he did nothing to that.
the only thing that i can think of it the different frames, they used like walsh or all them good ones........WHAT ELSE DID THEY DO??

4 stroke motors dont vibrate as much, mainly 2-strokes...

i know that it yz 400/426/450 DO have counterbalancers in them... .i believe the crf 450 does too

it's no I don't think it would work the same. but if you want to try it I would like to know how you could put that much weight on the flywheel and make it hold together. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near it when it's running:eek2:

are you sayin that the counterbalancer is a weight on the flywheel

counterbalancers run on there own shaft and bearings and is driven by a set of gears off of the flywheel ;)
