Is it a specific model that is being recalled?

My sister's Ford Focus hatch back was one of the type that was recalled because the brakes constantly go bad every 30k miles. She said she shouldn't have bought a Ford cuz go figure that would be her luck.. I'm sorry for her heh.

All full size silverados, s10's and blazers.

I had it replaced today, only took like 25 minutes. The wierd thing is that my truck is old 96:confused:

yeah, I got a recall notice in the mail last week. I'm taking my truck ('95 K1500 4x4) in friday to be fixed. Although I'm not sure what the fix is going to be. On the recall card I recieved it had a modification number on it, so I tried looking it up on the internet to figure out what it was and what I found was what you other guys are describing (wiper motor chip?) but when I called the dealer to set up an appt. to bring it in they said it was for the power mirrors switch or something like that. Oh well, guess I'll find out for sure on friday.:confused2

I'll have to ask my father if his 2001 Z-71 is an affected model. One of my Ford companies vehicles (2000 Windstar) had a recall on a wiper motor cover because it allowed water into the motor and could catch fire. That and the weatherstripping on the side door was recalled because it leaked.

Nope, this recall deals with the pre 99+ Silverados. There was a problem with a circuit board on the wiper motor module. I have fixed this problem for several people already...

With this problem you will experience your wipers not working all the time...seems like they will randomly work. I found a fix ... pull the wiper motor out and look for the circuit board. On this circuit board, you must check every solder joint. Trust me, if they are not working right, there WILL be a bad solder joint (cant remember which part). Just touch them up and it will work great.

Looks like Chevy finally found out this was a problem that needed fixed and now has this recall. :D

My 94 silverado had the problem too.. I though chevy sent out all their trucks with funky wiper problems...:huh

Not sure, since we dont have a pre 99 chevy anymore, I dont know exactly which model is going to get the recall. I do know the fullsize chevy's will be getting it though... call a local dealer (service dept) and ask them...

I am actually getting a refund for my truck, 2002 ZR2, under the lemon law. I have had it in 5 times for the HVAC system, so I got a lawyer that specializes in lemon law in MI.

It's to replace the wiper module. The ciruit board in it ends up with broken solder connections which cause the wipers to act speratically or not work at all. I delt with my pain in the *** wiper for a whole summer before I received the recall in the mail about 2mo. ago. It's all better now, and it didn't cost me a penny.

Any truck with the same/simmilar chassis has the recal. I have a 96' GMC Sierra. So, it'd also be for chevy trucks, suburbans, etc......

Should be the same. One of the circuit boards I fixed years and years ago was on a GMC.

Keep in mind, this is not for the new body style GM trucks. Only the pre-99 body style.

This may be the break I've been looking for!!! I've got a used '94 S10 and have been having wiper problems since I bought it. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Do you think it will be covered???

A recall is a recall, so i'm sure it doesn't matter whether you are the first owner or the 2nd owner.

Yep My 96 GMC 1500 wipers have been working on and off for over a year. Glad to see it is recalled. Nothing like having a bottle of rain x in the glove compartment for those times they decide to stop working. Have to get it in and fixed.

Yep, hell it doesnt even matter if you DONT own the vehicle. They want the vehicle in there to fix what they are recalling. As stated many times before, just call your local dealership. They have a listing of recalls and are familiar with what vehicles are covered. I can tell you, a recall this large, the service dept is going to be VERY familiar with it.

The NTHSA used to keep their site up to date on recalls, but I haven't checked into it lately. http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/
Or you can also try www.safetyalerts.com
