Stock rod with high rev CDI??

A friend told me that the stock rods are no good over 10k and to get 10K u gotta have a high rev CDI.

Is there any truth to this?

I run a WB 10,300 RPM CDI, with a 11:1 440 kit on a stock rod, with no trouble.
