I have been looking for black rims for quite a while now. Like the ones on the "limited edition" yamaha's. Nothing fancy, just normal non-race wheel or beadlook aluminum. If anyone knows where I can get them let me know and how much.

cheapest way is to buy a douglas or itp (or whatever rim you want) and powdercoat or paint it black. the new yammys are painted and seem to hold up ok...until the rim lip makes friends with rocks:p

does powdercoating stick well to aluminum? and what about anodizing?

they could be anodized....IMO thats probly the best way for rims but finding a place that does it for a decent price will be the tuff part.

the pc will do ok on the rim.....but wont last on the lip if you are a tree basher. i do alot of beadlocks pc'd black and we leave the rings polished....thats the most popular way. i think they go for like $120 a rim shipped but not positive. (thats a new beadlock for the $120...not the price just to have them pc'd)

yeah, prolly better to leave the outer ring polished. I seem to use the outer rim and tire as kinda a new style "curb feeler"

I just PC'd my stock rims black a few weeks ago, and they came out great. I masked off the edges and the inside until where there is a groove around the inside. I figured it would hold up great because the edge would look like chit after a few rock encounters :(

Pics coming soon

Sorry for the HUGE pic..I sent it to someone else to host and they need to resize it :eek2: Also no comments about the shimmering candy blue heatshield..:grr: I know it doesn't match at all, but I got bored and had not shot that color in a while so I figured :macho

Thanks..I wish I had a better pic in the sun with a good camera :o Then you could see the prismatic black frame

Anyone got any ideas for the heatshield?? I was thinking either translucent red or possibly yellow into black fade :p

2000ex i love those rims. i think that is how i am going to do my rims now. i was thinking about doing them black but didn't want the edges to get torn up but that looks great. nice idea.

I think ITP rims are like $30 more per rim if they are anodized black....:(

Yeah, it does not match at all :( I do PC'ing for a living and screw around sometimes :D

My steering stem is almost chrome faded into yellow at the bottom.

Actually the WB endcap is done in translucent red over polished aluminum. The inside spark arrestor has been polished and actually looks pretty sweeet from the rear. :bandit:

There are a few other things on the bike that are red, such as the oil cooler is redvein, throttle cover red into black fade, and the blockoff is trans red with a prism clear :p

FYI the rims are a biatch to mask off :devious:
