Nope. I think its a good looking truck (the only good looking 03 style for the chevy) but they REALLY undercut themselves when the picked the powerplant. Its kinda a disgrace the the SS badge IMO... the only TRUE SS late model is the Camaro SS and they eliminated the F-body line all together...so maybe the SS badge doesnt mean what it used to - "fast f'ing vehicle".

All they had to do was slap a supercharger on that 6.0L and it would be some serious competition for the lightning.

Oh well... I guess Chevy is like Honda ATV's...they wont be the fastest or most powerful out there, but are the most reliable. :D

chevy's duramax diesels are good now. I admit Ford big work trucks are nice. But for a normal person Chevy is where its at. Cheap to replace parts IF they break. My dads 1998 chevy silverado has ZERO problems, same with my moms 2003 Blazer LT. Me and my dad also have a 1957 327 chevy 210. The thing is amazing.. I think Chevy knows how to build their muscle cars. chevelle, corvette, nova... blah blah. Ford... LOL mustang 5.0 everybody has those, especially the 1980 ones. They are ricers in my mind, because teenagers either have little Hondas or rusted out mustangs. I will stick with my Chevy.

oh please... that is the biggest boatload of crap the internet started about the Duramax. How many Duramax's can you say you have personally dealt with. Me, I know of 4 guys with Duramax's (ranging from first year to a 2003) that have worked the crap out of those trucks...all with 5th wheels loaded to the max. The only problem was the fuel injectors becoming loose after so many miles on (1) truck. The rest of them have been bulletproof. 2 of them have over 150k on the clock, and as I stated before, fitted with a 5th wheel trailer hauling heavy equipment.

I also do computer work for the local dealerships in Pittsburgh...let me tell you, the Duramax has been ONE heck of a reliable motor. You wanna talk about a problem diesel on its first year, look at the new 6.0L Powerstroke... this motor has keep MANY local ford shops busy! Trust me, I see it with my own eyes when I look in the shops.

I dont mind the Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge bashing... keeps it enteraining, but when the BS starts flying thats where I'm gonna prove you wrong. I dont care if its any of the big 3 either. :grr:

Did you guys look at the SS concept vehicle? They say it has 430hp!!!! :eek2:

I like both chevy and ford. I'd take a Yenko or a Shelby any day.

I got an 84 caprice classic sitting in my garage at my cottage.
Daily driver up until about a year ago, Driven in every weather , every season.
Still has the origional motor and we just replaced the origional tranny a year ago.
Still runs perfect doesn't smoke or burn any oil.
If anything that sells me on chev right there.

The Chevy 8.1L heavy duty motor is where its at. And the SS concept car has over 400hp. How is that going to be slow? Or are you thinking about the worthless SSR thing.

Im not a big fan of fords at all. Parts are overpriced and they break more. I know of two people with Expeditions that have given them nothing but problems. Our 96 burban has been trouble free as well as my 96 s-10.

Being a Honda fan and a Ford fan is wrong. Yami and Ford go together. Both have serious reliability problems.

2600 lb/ft is some SERIOUS power.... :eek2:

To this day, I still think those Cummin's are the best small truck diesel's... just dont like the shell that comes with it.

and I'm in the market for a new truck i think but really don't know what i want..

I've had my share of problems with my chevy cars and trucks,,plenty of problems. Whether a ford will have as many problems too I don't know:confused:

I might be flipping a coin at the dealer...

I know dad has had several ford trucks in the past and I bet I've had more problems with one of my chevy trucks compared to his last 2 fords...:ermm:

Here's my personal experience with GM vs. Ford. All my personal vehicles have always been GM with one Chrysler and one DSM.

Personal vehicles:
1980 Citation= no problems
1988 Plymouth Laser non-turbo= tranny puked at 85,000
1985 Z28 305 TPI= gasket for thermostat started to leak at 96,000 miles
1986 Z28 305= no problems
1985 S-10 w/355 and TH-350=only problem was finding traction:cool:
1992 Talon TSi AWD= no problems
1985 S-10 with 2.2 Isuzu diesel= air pump went bad at 170,000 miles.
1993 LT1 Z28= no problems
2000 Grand Prix GT= fan switch went bad at 42,000

Company vehicles:
1997 Aerostar= no problems
2000 Windstar= various electrical problems from day one. Van would go into theft mode when using proper key. Was in dealership 12 of it's first 36 months of ownership. Didn't get fixed until Diebold threatened dealership with lemon law and they finally replaced the ECU, entire wire harness inside passenger compartment and the gauge cluster that harness goes through. After that the tranny started slipping at 35,000.
2001 Windstar= slipping tranny again at about 40,000
2000 E-150= starter solenoid dumped at 65,000 and electric door locks would lock and unlock themselves from time to time.
2003 E-150= AC stopped working at 55 miles. Had to replace the compressor.

I take better care of my company vehicles than my own car (company pays for all maintenance and they're Nazi's when it comes to mileage/oil changes) and my Ford's have been far less dependable than any of my GM's. Three other guys I work with all have Windstar's as well and all of their tranny's slip. The dealer told me that the transmission's in the Windstar's are the same tranny's as in the Taurus. He says he gets about one Windstar or Taurus a week for a slipping tranny. Fluid/filter changes seem to help but only get you another 5-6k miles until it starts slipping again. Given my own track record with the 2 companies I'm sticking with my GM cars/trucks. I do have a b!tch with GM, though. FIND A BETTER SUPPLIER FOR PLASTIC TRIM PIECES!! The GM trim plastic just looks chinzy and fake to me. Same goes for all the switchgear plastic. Ford does beat Chevy in this category IMO.

The door ajar sensors in my dad's previous rig (02 F350 V10 crewie) didn't work right. It also needed 1 alignmnent, and the compressor needed fixing after about 5000 miles.

His new truck (03 F250) doesn't seem to have any problems (had it 3 weeks), but the radio sounds like crap and is all staticy.

My mom's 03 Expedition surprisingly doesn't have any problems, and it was the first 03 (new style) to roll off the production line. I believe something with the hatch was recalled though.

Her previous one (98 Expedition) had about 14 front end alignments, and had the entire front end replaced twice. Not to mention numerous recalls, and 2 or 3 trips to the dealer for the AC. And it had those faulty Firestone tires, so those needed replacing.

Ford sucks. Buy a Chevy. I was so close to convincing my dad to get a Chevy SS or Ram Hemi instead of the F250, but for some reason he still has faith in Ford..
