yeah there is 2 solutions iknow of

1. buy a standard corse thread bolt thats close to the same size and screw it in there. i've done it with my side case bolt and it works fine. and yes you can take it in and out with no problems as long as you don't strip that bolt. but if you do refer to plan 2.

2. drill it out and use heli-coil (sp?) it goes in the old bolt hole and creates new threads. and i think you can buy it at the hard wear store and if they don't they should be able to tell you where to get it.

hope this helps Darrell

What do you mean the bolt is stripped? Is the head of the bolt stripped so you can't grip it with a socket, or are the threads stripped out? We can help you a lot better if you give us some more info.

The bolt is fine. The treads in the case are gone.

Fill the hole with JB Weld and retap it.

when i got my 400 the threads were stripped to, i just took the bolt out a got a longer one, works like a champ, mine was the longer of the two bolts

i Was thinking of that but i'm worried it might derupt oil flow or something. Anyone know if i should worry about this?

no the bolt doesnt go that far....if it did oil would come out the bolt hole when you took the bolt out,,the longer bolt just reaches the threads that the previous bolt couldnt reach

So how much longer should i go. 1/4 inch should be good right.

I would go as deep as you can. Take a small screwdriver or similar object and stick it into the hole to see how deep the hole it. The more threads you can grab a hold of the better.
