i would deffinately recommend Esr pipes.. i do not own one, but it is what i am saving for. The fit and quality of Esr pipes surpasses most, and it makes incredible power.. few people ever have any problems with them.

Get the Trx-5 pipe. it has more mid-top end that you will want for dunes.. pipe is $220 chromed or $199 bare metal.

You can also run any silencer on it you want, so you could probably get a fmf quiet cor silencer to make it very quiet.

i would go with the crack 5 pipe from www.crackracing.com

The ESR pipes along with the FMF turbine core silencers work very well. You must have a spark arrestor to run at Silver Lake but don't worry to much about the db level, they don't check unless it is extremely loud.

i have the esr trx 5 pipe and esr standard silencer, i love it. lots of power up top, but still enough at the bottom to lug around in the woods.

i used to have the fmf ssr pipe and power core II silencer. i also liked that pipe alot, had a little more up top than the esr, but about the same at the bottom. the fmf i think is about 260, the esr is 220. both silencers are around the 99$ mark. the fit and finish on the esr is WAY better though, so it was an easy decision for me to go esr

I had a LRD team B pipe it was ok. I put a Curtis Sparks TT pipe and it pull from the botttom to the top with lots of power. Just my 2 cents.

Personally I like the Paul Terner stuff. I'd also stick a CR250 head gasket in it. It will give you a lot more bottom end and it is cheap. Just make sure you jetting is right or you will burn it down.

ESR, Sparks, or LRD would be my choices

My bro has an 88250r with an Ims/la sleeze 302 kit. It has a welded and balanced crank, 38mm air stryker carb, and old school fmf gold series exhaust, and an answer spark arrestor muffler. It always seems to run rich, accept for in colder weather. Runs straight 110 octane race gas, and runs golden spectro 52 to 1.

I think the exhaust is keeping it from running up top like it should. Has anyone else had this problem with there's? I was thinking a cpi, or a pipe with more volume would allow the motor to breath better, and give it more power up top.

Anyones input would be appreciated:confused:

Have to be able to run a spark arrestor also though:ermm:

Also before anyone says "change the jetting retard"

We have been changing it constantly, right now I think he is running a 160.

Most pipe manufactures will tell you that you can run a pipe up to 310 cc without changing the pipe. I spoke to many engine builders and they all agreed that the normal 250r pipe will work with 310 cc motor, untill you got to 330-350 cc motor then you need a big bore pipe like LRD 350D, CPI custom pipe and FTZ custom big bore pipe or Sparks Big bore pipe.

Good Luck

I'm gonna check a few out, lrd, cpi, and some of ct racings stuff out. My local speed shop is an lrd distributor. I still think the exhaust is holding it back.:ermm:

You didn't say if the 300 is ported, if it's not that is your problem especially with the larger bore. When you increase the bore size the exhaust port decreases at the top which is why it won't rev. The big bores generally don't rev like the stock bore with the same mods.

Yep she's ported, and has a cool head. I'm not sure what the compression is, but You have to run at least a mix of race gas.

well I ahve run Paul turner and LRD pipes.....I ahve to sy powerwise and looks, i like the PT pipe, but i like the fit of the LRD better..i didnt have to fabricate a bracket to put my LRD like i had to on the PT....

Also the 96 cr250 head gasket is a good idea, but to save money i buy an 86 250r head gasket and split it in half...same thing as a cr250 gasket for half the price...i have run cr250 gasket before until someone told me that little trick...

LRD pipes are nice, I used to run the LRD big bore on my 350. If you are gonna buy an "off the shelf" pipe i'd go with the ESR TRX5. If you want one built specifically for your motor get a CPI made (mine was $460 chromed including the silencer). They take all your specs and build it to the motor.
