I bought my gun from www.eastwoodcompany.com and I usually buy my powder from www.columbiacoatings.com You hang the parts from a wire and spray the powder then put the wire with the part hanging in the oven. I use a pair of pliers to transfer the parts in and out of the oven. There is a hook on top of the wire (the opposite end of the part).

I usually just go by what www.ColumbiaCoatings.com says.

Curing:

A) Single Coats, Secondary (Final Coat), Third (Final Coats)

1) Light Parts: 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes. (Pulleys, Brackets and other small items.)

2) Heavy Parts: 385-400 degrees for 20-25 minutes. (Wheels, Intake Manifolds, Etc.)

I got the model 1100 and I think it is worth the money. I have not had a single problem with the gun yet. Gets the job done

LMAO:p  I dont think you can cure it over an open flame, I think it has to be in an oven or cured by an infared lamp. You might want to ask around about that though, but I dont think you can cure it over an open flame:ermm:

Nope, because the metal itself has to reach the 375 - 400, all the open flame will do is burn the powder. I tried to use a propane torch one time on a scrap part just to see what it would do. the powder burnt and turned crispy black.

would aluminum be considered light parts or would it depend on size?

I heard in not good to powdercoat aluminum because it makes the aluminum weak or something.

I have never heard that and I doubt its true. The parts depend on the size and weight not the material hondaextreme01:)

How hot does your motor get???
its made of aluminum.
Maybe if you had it so hot that it starts to melt or something.
But, no powdercoating aluminum will not make it weak. stronger if anything.
