I was thinking about getting a case saver, just in case I break the chain, but when I ask around no one has ever broken one.
Has anyone here ever broken their chain?? How did you do it?

Get the casesaver no matter what,,cuz it cost's around $25 and to replace the side case and gaskets it gonna run ya around $100. I've broke a chain before but it was on my old polaris 400 sport,,never broke one on a 400ex,,but have heard numerous 300ex's snapping chains and bustin holes in the case..it's a great insurance purchase.

Rico is right ! My friend just broke his chain last night on a 250X and it cracked the case.

All you need to is let your chain get a bit to much slack in it, or have your rear axle bearing start to go and the chain can walk off the sprocket, wad up, and bust the case...

I've never seen a chain snapped, but I've seen them derail and bust cases many, many times..

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure ;)

Yup, I broke a, *gasp*, sidewinder! Rolling down the driveway, throttle at 1/4 open, downhill, no load. Before that, I tossed one off and broke the case, just under 350 bux with parts from Service Honda and all labor but splitting done myself. Get a saver, they do the job.

HEY, i got a 250x and they do make case savers..and they are well worth it..i got on cause my chain kept falling off and going tough my case..it happend 3 differnt times. intill i got the case saver...each time mine whent though i took it to a friends dad and he fixed it for me and did a really nice job..the reason mine kept comming off is my swingarm barings went bad and i didnt notice it. but they are worth the money cause when they do brake theres no chance its going though...so instead of costing u 25 for the saver or 100 for repairs..

Last time I was at jack frost which was a couple months ago I seen a kid on his polaris hit a jump and get 3ft of air and snap his chain and it crack his case. I havent snapped a chain yet on my 400 because I get a new one periodicaly.

I have never had a chain snap. but I have had a master link of a chain come off and then the chain worked its self off and the chain flow right off.. luckly I was not going that fast and it didn't hit my case..
