im thinking about boring my stock sleeve .40 over with an 11.1 piston, will this decrease realiabilty? oh im most likely gonna put a wiseco piston in, but ive heard alot of bad things about them? whats really so bad about em? oh i dont want to ramble on any more, so heres the last question, will i need to replace any gaskets in the process?

a 406 bore and 11:1 wont decreease reliability a lot..just make sure your quad is always fine tuned...and get a JE...my wiseco broke in peices....and there compression ratings arent true

naw u dont need a new connecting rod...it shouldn't decrease your realiabilty hardly at all...u should feel a pretty good gain..or atleast i did on my 300ex

hey so what do you do when you get your sleeve bored? do you pull it out of the head and bring it to a machine shop? or do you jus bring the head? oh how do they know how big to bore it? do they like measure the piston with a micrometer and go from there? im asking all this cuz im most likely boring mine this winter.. but thanks alot

The sleeve is not in the head, it is in the cylinder. You do not take the sleeve out, you take the cylinder to the machine shop or where ever you are getting it bored.

You will need to take the piston with you so when they bore it,so the clearance can be measured.Don't forget to remove the 4 headbolts before taking it in(if not they will charge more)I would recommend to not waste the money on the 406 and go with the 416.You will have the same reliability but more power, also there is still room for another bore.Get a JE piston it weighs less=quicker revs.Go ahead and buy a gasket kit from ServiceHonda there are 2 kits, buy the one that comes with a base gasket(you don't have to buy the kit but it does cover the whole top of the motor). If you have the money get a cam as well and install it with the piston, clean up the head pipe (inside) get a Uni foam filter and rejet.Improvment will be very noticeable and just as reliable as stock.

Goodluck~enjoy

I agree the Je or Ross pistons are the best. As for cams I would get s hot cam stage II. The big bores are not any less reliable. C&D Racing has good prices on all the above:)

who sells a good 416 kit? will i need to upgrade any other components when buying this (ie clutch etc) thanks!

A stock clutch will hold up fine, I would suggest a Hinson basket if you "stay" in the clutch though.Find a drop in cam that doesn't require hard faced rockers (although expensive I suggest TC or Sparks)Hot cams sells an enexpensive solution but they have been having quality issues.A stock cam chain will do the job an will hold up to alot of abuse.

Do a search. seriously dont be lazy all the info is right here on the site and all you have to do is read it.

Though I am thinking on doing these engine mods here so all I have to say in the future is mail it here and send $$$.

BTW Hot cam stage1 barely used 70.00. Nice increase over stk and you cant beat it for the price.
