yeah I know it can "Hang with the best" but I don't consider it a Sport quad if it was a 6 sp or 5sp maunel or even auto clutch It would be a bit higher up on my list. Imo auto is NOT sport

I don't recall saying that a bayou was a sport quad do you?

I was just saying that IMO the v force is not considered a sport quad to me why? Becuase it is auto and wayy to heavy.

Yeah there heavy, you can bounce a 400ex right off the side of one, Found that out at Loretta's. I was following when the track spilt, I went for the pass, he gassed it, track came back together. Boing ended up in a small bush. Thank God for nerfs.

The Vforce IS a sport quad..Maybe not in your opinion but it is a sport quad...What makes a quad a utility like a bayou or grizzly is when they have racks and plow/hitch options not too mention bigg mudder tires where as the Vforce is made for climbing dunes and running around having fun...not really racing, but they are very raceable

I have yet to see one but I do think it would be cool. I am not too crazy about the way the front end as far as plastics go sit up so high but at certain angles it doesn't look as bad.

If I was gonna go open class I would go for a DS650. I like those pretty well. I will say if I had to be a dediacted customer to someone else other than Honda, it would be Kawasaki. While I am still not too crazy about them, they are pretty rock solid.

The V-Force would be the chit in XC, though. Shaft drive and high ground clearance as well as all around bigness gives you a license for deep mud and the brutality to rough your way through, pushing everyone out of the way. The speed of a sport quad with the secure feeling of a utility, it's really a great concept when you think about it. ;)

The V-Force is a sport quad in it's own class. It is nothing like being on some of the smaller sport quads but it does haul. I had mine out this weekend with only about 3 hrs on it and could keep up with a Predator through third or so gear and lost the drags by about 5 or so bike lengths. Now as the day went on and the V got more and more broke in you could feel the power start to be released how ever we did not race them again as I am trying to break it in properly. But I am sure that as it gets broke in and I get pipes and what not this bike will have everything that Predator wants.

I rode one yesterday at Turkey Bay. It had good power and rode good, but was a tank. For a 700, I thought it would be a little faster. I could feel the heat coming off the engine. My legs were getting hot. It kinda felt like I was driving it, not riding it. For those who like auto quads, it would be great. I loved the way the engine sounds, almost V8 like. Would not trade the Z for one though.

DESDAK4
07-20-2003, 06:10 AM
It does not feel like a tank at all. I do like it but I also really like my EX but they truely are for 2 different riding styles. I did find that as the day went on and I got used to it I cold control it more thatn it controled me. It's a nice quad and with the right mods to open up the topend taht it should have it will be a hard one to outrun.

for those of you on the first page saying it can "hang with the best" i beg to differ, because it is rated at 75 mph top speed so it will beat a 400 and it is supposed to go good from bottom to top

KevinM

Change to a higher rated primary clutch spring and put a set of these on and you'll see what fast is.

"Change to a higher rated primary clutch spring "
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? COULD YOU EXPLAIN THIS?
THANKS
ROSS

KevinM

The stock primary clutch spring is the same as what comes in a Scrambler 500 and its rated at 20/90, meaning it shifts way, way to early and kills all of the power the 700 twin has. When it shifts too early, it causes it to fall on its face at around 40mph. Changing to a stiffer spring lets it rev much higher, up to where the power is being made and lets it pull hard all the way to the top. Adding a good set of duals makes it need to rev even higher and requires an even stiffer spring to get all the power out of it.

You kidding in a drag race the v-force could easily beat a STOCK 400 ex. It pulls so quick down low. I have one and it shoots from the hole like a bullet. It falls on it's face at higher speeds. I don't know where 75mph came from. It should do 60-65 mph stock. Some minor mods would wake this thing up tremendously. The spring I heard was the best mod and they aren't even that expensive.

Yep, the spring is only about $25. You and I must be on the same wavelength - we both own Busas and V-Forces :macho:

Jay, I haven't gotten a whole lot of seat time on the V-Force yet (darn rainy weather) but from what I have ridden - I love it!! :D I plan on adding an HMF full exhaust and changing the primary spring (not sure to what yet) - but that will probably be the extent of the mods I make. How about your plans? :)

I've just got a tank bra, heli-bars, and a Corbin passenger seat and backrest (it is only on when my fiance rides with me - usually the hump is on). I'm trying to decide on what slipons to get though - I'd like Yoshi but they are very expensive :scary:

I have a bunch of friends that Competition drag race. They all have the Brock Hindle Exhaust. It was about $800 for the full system and sounds awesome. Single can too.

What is stopping me from doing a full exhaust is that I would also have to buy a Power Commander III, and probably take it to a dyno to get it tuned and mapped properly. I am not sure if that is worth it as a 16t front sprock and TRE have increased the acceleration satisfactorily. Now it is mainly about looks and sound. I don't think I would have to mess with the mapping if I just put on slipons - a big plus for me.

Derno24
08-07-2003, 06:55 AM
I haven't had mine dyno'd yet I am running the full system and it is a little lean on the low end, but all I have to do is have the bike reprogrammed. Friends of mine have the Yosh box which can do adjustments to the mapping without the power commander.

Interesting...The odometer doesn't move and that sure wasn't 220mph. I have done 160mph and things in the background move alot faster. They probably geared the bike down.

FWIW that was a turbo Busa and the camera tends to make it look slower
