would it hurt anything if i rode without that silver end cap on my 4ooex

If you remove that, you will be removing the spark arrester. Without this piece stray sparks can fly out and possibly start a fire. It will make your 400 slightly louder. This might also call for a change in your jetting

it won't hurt anything but it won't give performance either. it may just give off an obnoxious noise.

while that can be true, people that dont ride beg to differ.so to them, it is EXTREMELY obnoxious.

also......loud pipes are useless when other people in the area also have loud pipes.

well, riding with the S.A. off makes the bike sound like crap. it sounds nothing like an aftermarket pipe and there is no power gains from doing it so i really didn't see a point. by gutting your stock exhaust you might notice a slight power increase when you jet it properly. i did this before i got my pipe. it was louder, which isn't a good thing if you live in a neighborhood but where i ride it wasn't a major concern because i live in the country. good luck

i dont have the core in mine 250x (the person who owned it before must have taken it out) doesnt sound any different to me(my friend has a stock 300ex) I hope I dont start any fires tho. Can this really happen?

its possible but ive never heard of it happening tho
