ive heard of ppl using stock xr 250 rev limiter's on their 400ex's, does this have a more aggresive curve?

Yes, along with another 1000 RPM's - IF you can get it to start!

hello yes it does have a better curve and starting is not a problem if your bat is in good condition! my bat is a 2000 and hasnt failed to start, a friend put a new bat in recently with more cca and it fires up much quicker than mine so i problee need a new bat shortly,and i know 4 people using that box with no problems!:D

Mine has worked great for about 4 years now. The only problem I've had is starting when cold. The 400EX doesn't turn the engine over quick enough when cold. But now that I have a 493 stroker motor the rev box does not work at all. The 493 absolutely will not start with it. It fires up instantly with the stock box though.
